Hotel Savegre

We loved the garden the location and the ambience, it was such a welcoming place. The room was basic, but it had a lovely warm aircon /heater and the shower was super hot and strong. Breakfast was also good! Highlight was the 5am quetzal tour with Raoul, he picked us up in his pristine car and was just the loveliest man. That aside he’s got hawk eyes and spotted the quetzal very quickly, we saw the male & female numerous times and it was truly magical (we booked Raoul via the hotel)There were lots of other guides, but none as switched on nor as enthusiastic as him.

The room was rather dated, but I will forgive it for its wonderful hummingbird garden, sweetest staff and delicious breakfast.

Beautifully situated and very nice grounds. Well-kept and with private hiking trails. We were able to spot the quetzal on one of these hikes. Rooms pleasant, a little dark, but with bathtub. Breakfast very good. But especially the dinner was very good and overall good value, good wine list.

Brilliant hotel especially if you are into birds especially if you want to see a Quetzal. Rooms were great. Breakfast was fantastic. The guide (part of the family) was knowledgeable, kind and informative. Great trials direct from the hotel. Possibly the best hotel during our 3 week stay in Costa Rica.

There was nothing to fault it on except it is very popular so we couldn't extend our stay.

Beautiful gardens, lovely bar area with big fire, 2 for 1 drinks, food in restaurant delicious, hummingbird garden stunning and the walks easily accessible, well maintained and beautiful.
