Review score
Location and views were good. Rooms were modern and clean. Bell desk staff are very cooperative and go out of the way. Breakfast has a good spread.
1. Front desk staff. No one likes front desk staff who are rude and grumpy. During checkin, during checkout or even during the stay. Not a smile, not a thank you, not a how are you. Not even a basic greeting. No one bothered to even explain to us the various restaurants in the hotel. Generally very uncooperative. Left a bad taste. 2. Room service. Perhaps the worst we have seen in all of our travels across the world. They don’t give you tea bags. Even after repeated requests and call backs. No cups in the room (even though there is a Nespresso machine). Very stingy with supplying potable water. 3. Housekeeping. Not the best. Dustbins don’t get cleaned and even when they do - they aren’t kept in one piece. We travel across the world and stay in all kinds of properties - intercontinental Presidente promised a whole lot but was left wanting. We felt we would have been better off staying in a Marriott, W or Hyatt which were 100 ft away.

Great stay in Polanco.
The location of this hotel is just perfect. Polanco is a great place to stay if you want some old-fashioned charm, along with modern restaurants and tree-lined streets. The hotel is really nice and huge. Every member of staff we engaged with was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Cocktails and bar food were reasonably priced and pretty much aligned with what restaurants outside the hotel were charging. We had a stunning city view; early morning, we saw an amazing sunrise over the city, and evenings offered twinkling lights and the feeling of being in the thick of it all. Would highly recommend staying at the Intercontinental Presidente.
Breakfast time was too busy and cramped. There were so many guests, with waiters dashing around with heavy trays. There was not much gluten-free choice apart from supermarket-bought bread which came partially toasted and always cold! The cold buffet was ok but I mainly ate fruits and natural yoghurt as there was nothing much for me to eat on the hot buffet, apart from omelettes, and I don't eat eggs. The hot chocolate was wishy-washy, but the coffee was nice. I asked if I could take some fruit with me as I was going on a trip and being coeliac it is difficult for me to find food on the cuff. I was told by the food and beverage manager that he would allow it on this occasion, but for the rest of my stay, if I took anything from the buffet outside of the restaurant, there would be a charge. That surprised me as most of the food available is not anything I can actually eat. Maybe next time I will forego the breakfast as the hotel and location is brilliant.
